Igor Bogojević (b. 1980, Podgorica, Montenegro) is a painter based in Ewing, New Jersey, near Princeton. Working across painting and drawing, he explores movement, psychological tension, and the shifting boundary between figuration and abstraction. The horse is a recurring presence in his work: bodies intertwine, fragment, and reassemble, while gestural lines and layered paint transform recognizable forms into charged pictorial spaces.

Bogojević earned his BFA in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje in 2002 and his MFA in 2007. Awarded a two-year IKY scholarship from the Greek government, he completed postgraduate specialization at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Triantafyllos Patraskidis in 2005. He subsequently undertook a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2008–2009, before moving to New York in 2011.

Over more than two decades, his work has been presented in over thirty solo and group exhibitions across Europe and the United States. Selected venues include the Centre of Contemporary Art of Montenegro, Podgorica; the Melina Cultural Centre, Athens; Galerie Museum, Paris; and Atlantic Gallery and Ceres Gallery, New York. Recent solo exhibitions include Ancient Dream at Dsgnrr Gallery, Brooklyn (2022), and Metaphysics of the Soul at the Nassau Club of Princeton (2024).

His distinctions include the University of Montenegro Prize (2002), a Gold Medal for Painting at the Salon of the Académie Internationale de l’École de la Loire, France (2009), and an award for drawing at Atlantic Gallery, New York (2015). His work is included in Mladen Lompar’s monograph Painters of Montenegro (2010).

Alongside his studio practice, Bogojević taught drawing, painting, and first-year seminar courses through CUNY’s College Now program at Bronx Community College from 2014 to 2017. From 2013 to 2015, he created original hand-painted and digital prints for seasonal fashion collections at ADEAM International in New York.
